My Book Is On Its Way

Hear ye! Hear ye!

I have sent my finished manuscript to the publishers. It is in the editing department now. Whether or not it shall be illustrated is now in question. Other than that, the book is on its way and its fate is now in the hands of the editors.

Wish me luck!

Poetry Scams and Sinthyia Darkness

Hear ye! Hear ye! Let it be known that I would not be a published author were it not for my beloved Sinthyia. Now, in the true tradition of chivalry, I must stand and defend her honor. I have been compelled already to write of the villiany of poetry.com and this is very reason why.

Let it be known throughout the kingdom of Arthur and throughout all the lands that pay hommage to him that our fair Lady Darkness has been waylaid by thieves and ruffians. Poetry.com deviously and shamelessly has laid claim to three of her poems. These poems have been copyrighted by Sinthyia Darkness and published through PublishAmerica, but poetry.com does sell it on teeshirts, mugs and stationary without pretense. They do so without even an effort at recompense.

Now that their devilry has been discovered, the snakes in the grass now try to hide their sins, whilst still committing their thievery upon the fair lady! These villians have no shame or honor and lo, I doubt they would have the courage to meet with me upon the saddle in the jousting field.

This treachery cannot and shall not go unanswered and I say unto thee. The victims of this treachery should email me at pianotm26@yahoo.com at once. Let not this villiany go unanswered.

Poetry Scams

Are you hoping to be published? Do have a great idea for a book? Do have a bunch of poems that you wrote and thought would be great to see with an ISBN? Is that email in your spam folder looking very alluring at this point? Don't open it.

If you're like me, you probably saw this great online contest! Write a poem and you will see your name in print! You could win 10,000 dollars! Then when you sent it in, you won the "Poetry Achievement Award", but do you notice that you never win the contest? In fact, you don't win anything. You have to pay for the book that your poem comes in. You have to pay full retail price. You don't get a discount for buying bulk. They tell you that there is going to be an award show in your honor in Vegas. Of course, you must pay your own way: airfare, hotel, etc.

In fact, they don't give you anything, even a percentage of profit. This is a scam. This is Poetry.com. A real publisher gives you a copy of your own book. They help you publicize. They pay you for your work.

Sites like poetry.com make money hand over fist entirely on your and companies like this are particularly insidious because they prey upon the dreamer's lifelong desire to be published. They take advantage of that and then give you nothing in return. Whatever you do, stay away from poetry.com.
